On participating in Vagina Festival 2007:
My recently released sophomore cd, "I AM SHE," is dedicated to empowering the female/creative energy within, and collectively on the planet...'possibility' that lives only in the fertile unknown. It seems like the modern world is more and more unwilling to honor the uncertainty of the creative spirit, and prefers to cling to survival within the familiarity of the status quo...rampant with suffering, inequity, struggle, violence, anger, hopelessness, resignation, war, dishonor... When health is present, the balance of female-male energy is an ongoing creation. I am thrilled to contribute our songs to the Vagina Festival, to bring attention and intention to the possibility of creating a healthy and joyous world for all human beings.
About Deb Chamberlin:
As a singer-songwriter, teen mentor, global activist, voice and life coach, wife and mother... I choose to use my life and art to explore what it is to live authentically, powerfully, passionately. I love discovering what makes a person 'tick' and what it is like to be in another's universe. I believe that all forms of intolerance and injustice arise out of our inabilities to 'get' another human being...that no politician, no government, no peace treaty can create a loving and kind world. Each of us must do so... through conscious thinking and choosing. It's so easy to 'sleep' through life. Music & the arts inspire us to feel and dream again. Collaboration is a profound act of creation. Together with my husband/music partner/producer, Robert Wynn, I aspire to write and perform music that makes a difference in the world...songs that inspire, open hearts and minds, provoke, challenge, awaken, comfort, engage...

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN >
At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime — with the abuser usually someone known to her. Violence against women and girls is a universal problem of epidemic proportions.

V-Day's 2007 theme Reclaiming Peace seeks to make the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists with our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts. “We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home,” stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler.
