SUNNY CHAPMAN Visual Artist Exhibited: The Beast On participating in Vagina Festival 2007: I've been involved in activism around women's issues since the late 1960's, mostly reproductive rights issues. I've witnessed a lot of abuse and violence against women and would like to get more involved in the struggle to end violence against women. About Sunny Chapman: Art is the language that I use to express ideas and emotions that I can't always articulate with words. Art is the conduit between my subconscious and the external world. V-Day's 2007 theme Reclaiming Peace seeks to make the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists with our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts. “We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home,” stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler.
