Actress, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES

On performing The Vagina Monologues:
The first time I saw this production in Pennsylvania I was shocked and awe inspired by the content and humor and depth of the monologues.

I feel honored to be able to bring a voice to bring this material to the ears of another woman who may feel the shame, weirdness, awkwardness and plain craziness of having a vagina in our society and maybe just maybe she will walk away feeling a bit more human after all. Or at least light hearted :)

About Thérèse Plummer:
Thérèse Plummer is an actor and play write living and performing in New York City. She has been working on a full-length drama with Charlie Schulman at the Writer's Voice Workshop and was last seen performing an excerpt of her one-woman show, Ribbon's Undone at HERE Arts Center. She recently played Suzie in the Artists' Tomorrow Festival production of DRESS, Madeline in the Samuel French Short Play Festival Winner, The Sweet Room.

Comedy credits include Improv at Upright Citizen's Brigade and Stand up at Caroline's.

Thérèse is delighted to be participating in The Vagina Monologues as part of Vagina Festival 2007.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN >
At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime — with the abuser usually someone known to her. Violence against women and girls is a universal problem of epidemic proportions.

reclaiming peace

V-Day's 2007 theme Reclaiming Peace seeks to make the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists with our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts. “We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home,” stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler.
