Bless Roxwell
Music- Hip Hop

Presenting:
Bless Roxwell: evolutions
On participating in Vagina Festival 2008:
I make every attempt, when creating music, to share positivity and to be myself and the woman that my mother raised me to be. So, by creating the music that I love so deeply, my goal is for folks to stop and look at the images of women in hip hop and the effect that it has on young people and future generations. When I was growing up the images of women in hip hop was one of positivity and strength and it balanced out hip hop in a way that allowed it to grow. However, those days are gone and so what we are faced with now is the power of a genre that reaches millions but is not reaching its full potential of expression and in turn is sending negative messages to the youth. My mission with my music is to showcase different sides of hip hop and to be proof that one can be who they are and still be embraced and respected. To show that women in hip hop have powerful voices, ideas and opinions, and we're not just showpieces or background props. To share a message of hope, love, and change. These are some of the messages that I try so hard with every song to impart to the world around me, my fans, my friends and my family. thank u!
About Bless Roxwell:
The beautiful and talented Bless Roxwell is a magnetic performer with an undeniable ability to make hit songs. Coming out of the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, Bless recalls how the music made an impression on her at an early age: "My older brother was writing rhymes, performing and recording. So, as a little one, I wasn't just listening to all the classics that helped shape the game, but experiencing the creative process behind them as well". Always reading and writing poetry & short stories- Bless would soon discover she had a talent to write rhymes too. "Combining my love for writing with such an influential Hip-Hop background, well, rhyming just seemed like a natural progression," she remembers. Soon Bless Roxwell was giving big brother a run for his money- her 2002 EP, "Believe-In", featuring production by the Scratchismz Crew from Boston, is a testament to those first few years of grind in The Big Apple. The 2005 release of her first full-length project, "8.2-3.95", garnered heavy interest and praise, as well as earning Ms. Roxwell a solid fanbase of support among the die-hard and hard to please hip hop fans. These days, you'll find Bless in the studio recording tracks for her 3rd highly anticipated effort, "evolutions". Production, will again be dominated by the one and only, beat-wizard Ayatollah, however expect to hear a couple tracks from some new blood in the mix as well. To feel the full experience, Bless welcomes you to check out one of her red-hot live shows near you as she blazes her way into the hearts of audiences and listeners. In the words of Ms. Roxwell herself, "Embrace change because as you learn and you grow, it's the only thing you can truly count on. I'd like for people, when they hear my music, to hear evolution...the past, present and future of Hip-Hop."
