On participating in Vagina Festival 2008:
it is very exciting to support such an important cause with this performance! habeas corpus, like the vagina festival, is about freedom.
we ask these questions:
- what would you like to let go of?
- what do you feel holds you back?
- what would life be better without?
audience responses (both auditory and private) to these questions as well as those we have previously gathered from friends and strangers create a thought-provoking, darkly humorous, beautiful and terrible performance. what better event than the vagina festival to support women by delving deeply into what is both personal and expansive to us all? we are honored to do so.
About the real kim harmon:
we are dynamic: beautifully disturbing, gratingly lyrical and viscerally constructed.
innovative musicians andrew kozar and wilson novitzki join performance artist kim harmon, using the flesh and motion of body, the blood and sound of breath, the intricate pulsing rhythms of collective being. we create questions and curiosities intricately woven with deceptively simple suppositions. our goal, our labour of love, is to leave room for everyone present, artist and audience alike, to experience a very personal, distinct and precious immersion into visceral landscapes breathtakingly hopeful while at once humorous through their own cynicism.
we all live in a world where tears of blood lubricate the warm hug of a silly joke...
thus, we believe laughter is at once a door to a room and the room itself--that most things are terribly, terribly funny.
