Poem and Dance
Liz Chestang

Presenting:
"Stripped on Saturday"

On participating in Vagina Festival 2008:
My piece “Stripped on Saturday” is a poem and a dance piece combined about self image. The poem is about how every Sunday I try and start over with a cycle of all these imperfections I have and one day I come to this realization that those imperfections will never be stripped. The poem is about me coming to this epiphany at the end of the week when I am actually the most like my self. Moreover, my piece captures the sentiment many women feel that they have to be perfect and strip away all their flaws that make them unique. My piece demonstrates that we as women can be unique and quirky and happy with ourselves at the end of the day.
