Sandra Torres NAKED Role: Homayra. On participating in Vagina Festival 2008: "Being woman is a power itself" ... we need to remind humanity about it. To participate in the Vagina Festival and this particular play is a dream come true: to spread awareness through art. About Sandra Torres: "... Since I have memory, theater has been part of my life, the food for my soul... Sandra Torres." Born and raised in Uruguay Miss Torres has been involved in performing arts since elementary school. She has been trained in Stanislavsky , Grotowski and Hagen's techniques as well as movement, voice and choreography. She is currently studying Augusto Boal's "Theater of the Oppressed" techniques (Image theater and the aesthetics of the Oppressed) pursuing her dream of doing social work through art. She worked in different projects in Uruguay in theater and film as well. Between 1996 and 2002 she performed in a series of non-profit productions for children in low-income public schools. From 2001 trough 2003, until she emigrated, she was working in an independent project "Declaiming Poetry" in Montevideo's buses making her living (literally) out of performing poetry for bus' passengers for almost two years. In 2003 Miss Torres emigrated due to the worst economical crisis of the century. In NYC she has worked in short-films and theater.
