elicia gonzales sexuality, body (genital) image, self-worth Presenting: hey you down there: a vaginal reflection On participating in Vagina Festival 2008: i am going to have a conversation with my vagina while looking at her through a mirror. this conversation will be audio recorded and played back during a slide-show displaying various relevant images. this could get ugly. i have often compartmentalized my body, feeling a disconnect between my genitalia, brain and heart. i want to look her in the eye, so to speak, and ask her if she is embarrassed of me, if she forgives me, if she is proud of me, if she loves me. the presentation relates to the vagina festival's purpose in that it demonstrates a vulnerability that many women have in reflecting upon our personal identities and sexuality. i want you to think not about my piece, but about your own "pieces" by, perhaps, conducting a little vaginal reflection of your own.
